At first, Philotimo calls attention because it offers the possibility of rotating among its 6 rotations . Once you start shadowing, you realize that it actually enables you to know the world inside a classroom. I started at Philotimo shadowing at the University hospital and the University. The program contain lectures, patient diagnostics and surgery. The excursions are the best part of the whole program.

This program has been wonderful! I had the opportunity to shadow some amazing surgeons at the IASO private clinic as well as observe research in the university hospital. I’ve also explored around Greece and have learned so much about medicine and the culture here.

This summer I spent a month in Greece with Philotimo med abroad program where I completed over 50 hours of AAMC compliant physician shadowing at the University Hospital of Larissa. Here, I observed several areas of patient care from consultations to surgeries in Orthopedics and Neurology. I also got the opportunity to observe endoscopic and minimally invasive spinal surgery at IASO Hospital in Athens where I accumulated more shadowing hours.
