A Pharmacy internship with Philotimo is an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience of pharmacy practices in the land of Hippocrates. You’ll deepen your understanding of both global and local healthcare issues. You’ll also observe medical conditions you might not see in your home country.

You can complete your pharmacy internship in the dispensary unit of a hospital, a local pharmacy, or a medical center. Apart from observing in these clinical settings, you’ll also spend time dispensing medication during medical outreaches in disadvantaged communities. All of your work at outreaches is supervised.

The Philotimo Pharmacy Program provides our participants students interested in health careers the opportunity for a transformative experience. This two-week program helps college students enhance their academic proficiency and career development opportunities in the health profession.

The Philotimo Program has been shaping careers and changing the lives of premedical, predental college students including future pharmacists! Participation during school breaks programs may better prepare students for acceptance into advanced degree programs.

Support during your program:

The team will pay you regular visits in the hospital throughout your placement. This helps make sure everything is running smoothly. We’ll tell you about your supervisors before you meet them. Aim to build rapport with them and they’ll reveal what the local system is like from the perspective of a local practitioner.

The Philotimo Pharmacy Program combines science, healthcare, computer technology, business, math analytics and lab research. You can choose from a community pharmacy, involved limited?? With intensive interaction with the public and patients, which can be very appealing if you’re a “people person”. You might be surprised to learn that pharmacy can be very diverse exciting.

The Practice Setting:

Philotimo’s community pharmacy range from small, individual-owned pharmacies to large chain stores located in nice areas of the host city.

The program consists of working closely with a high-ranked pharmacist in a community pharmacy, where important care and health-related services they provided.

The shadowing schedule starts at 9:00 am and goes until 2:00 pm and starts again from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday to Thursday. (Program may be subject to change).

Cosmetic Manufacturing

Shadow in Greece’s first natural cosmetic brand’s globally awarded lab. Witness the procedure of making natural creams, pills and organic products.

The preparation of each stage is guided by the Chemist and Pharmacist during this experience.

Compounding Pharmacy.

Philotimo Med Abroad is afilliated with the University of Thessaly, School of Health and Sciences. Students can specifically tailor the program to individual needs. Working with the physician, pharmacist to prepare a customized experience. Using the latest techniques and devices available at the state-of-the-art University of Thessaly Lab.

You can prepare medication using several unique delivery systems, such as, for those patients who are having a difficult time swallowing a capsule instead preparedeveloping a transdermal gel cream for dermatological use.

The City of Larissa

Larissa the capital and largest city of the Thessaly region in Greece. It is the fifth-most populous city in Greece.

Larisa is a modern city with beautiful squares, neighborhoods, and parks, along with numerous commercial shops and many options as far as food and entertainment are concerned. It is said that the city has more than 1600 cafeterias (!) and is sometimes called “the city of coffee”. But except for relaxing and drinking coffee, you should spend some time sightseeing.

Larissa is known as the city of Hippocrates who resided and died there.
