As far as the program at the University Hospital of Larissa. I spent my days either in cardiology, radiology, surgery, hepatology, internal medicine, physical therapy or neurology. It was great to get a glimpse of the physician’s day to day procedures while learning some more Greek! Most of the doctors were super caring and welcoming. My favourite specialities were surgery and neurology; I could really see myself pursuing a career in neurology! I met the BEST doctors in neurology and the machines to diagnose the disorders were fascinating. I truly learned so much the last two days of the program, and I observed a case with a brain tumor and consulting neurosurgeon. Overall, I had a really great time. I recommend Philotimo Internship to anyone looking to gain experience while traveling.

I embarked on a 3-weeks journey that opened my eyes to a new world of challenges and insights. Working in a local hospital, I encountered illnesses and conditions that differed vastly from those in Western countries. This experience not only deepened my medical knowledge but also exposed me to the rich tapestry of Greek culture. Thank you so much Philotimo!

So far attending Philotimo has been the best decision I've made in my life. I love that we learn by doing and are constantly in contact with many doctors both inside and outside of the hospital The student body is so international and together we learn from each other and grow. We all share the same passions for medicine and travel.

The international student body is impressive and completely unique, offering students an unparalleled diversity and invaluable cultural richness. Our clinical Shadowing was very intensive. The doctors are friendly, always taking time to explain in detail about each procedure.

The clinical rotation was a game-changer and eye-opener. The ability to live, work and study in different city within two weeks is something I reckon no other institution can provide. The Philotimo's program is so intensive challenge this with great results

What distinguishes Philotimo from the most traditional shadowing programs is that it has a more practical approach and professors share their own experiences and professional knowledge apart from the academic insights, so you will get that hands on approach and learn things that will help you in your professional life, on top of your academic one.

At first, Philotimo calls attention because it offers the possibility of rotating among its 6 rotations . Once you start shadowing, you realize that it actually enables you to know the world inside a classroom. I started at Philotimo shadowing at the University hospital and the University. The program contain lectures, patient diagnostics and surgery. The excursions are the best part of the whole program.

So far it has been a very intense experience, with relevant study fields and shadowing challenge. I would say you can benefit from it proportionally with your time invested. The professors are some of the best and probably the best resources as well. I loved so far the surgeries, lectures modules and the volunteer project.

I enrolled in this program with little shadowing experience and no clear idea of what I wanted to do in the future. My prior academic and research experiences had not given me a clear direction, and the little shadowing I had done had turned me away from pursuing a career in medicine. However, this experience changed everything. The chance to shadow in various departments and interact with hospital staff on a personal level revealed a whole new aspect of medicine to me, and made me realize that working in a hospital is exactly where I want to be. The experience is vastly different from shadowing in the United States, with a different healthcare system and culture. In addition to professional growth, I also got to travel around Greece and make unforgettable memories with a group of amazing girls. It was the perfect balance of work and play, and I am now confident in my decision to pursue a career in medicine.
